WHO ARE WE?
The Astronomical Agrupation of Alcala de Henares
was founded in 1985 because of two friends that not only want to learn and
discover the wonderful sky, sino compartirlo con aquellos que como él tenían el
mismo deseo de conocer. It began with a image of the Moom. A great photo of the
Moon was the track they put in the pub"La Chopera", they were Manolo and Pedro.
In that image they were writen"if you are interested on the astronomy come here
on wednesdays...". All the interested people went soon and all began ....since
now.
OBJETIVES
The Agrupación
Astronómica Complutense is an association without spirit of profit, our main
objetive is to spread astronomy.
The A.A.C. is an association opened to everybody without problen about the
level of knowledges you have.
WHERE ARE WE?
We are situated in Alcalá de Henares, the old
Complutum of the romans. In 1293 the general studies grewn up and were founded
one of the most important university of Spain. During the century XIX crisis
Alcalá was quiet in misfortune, and also its university, it was dismembered and
its patrimoniy distributed, while a new university was founded in Madrid, it
took the name of "complutense" (from Alcalá) and today we don´t know why yet.
At last, with the democracy here was refounded the University of Alcalá, and
today it has that name and the same buildings that the first university founded
by Cardenal Cisneros in 1499. Today is city patrimony of the humanity, declared
by UNESCO. That university never was called "complutense" and neither today,
but our Agrupatión is called "Complutense" becasuse we are in Alcalá de
Henares.
MEETINGS
We go every wednesday in La Casa de la Juventud
de Alcalá, Avenue Virgen del Val nº2, from 20:30 to 23:00 if you want to speak

Agrupación Astrónomica Complutense is a very
large name, and A.A.C. is very impersonal, so that we use to name it "grupa",
or "agrupa".
