Eclipse 03 octuber 2005

The last 3 october at 10:56 the Moon eclipsed the Sun, it lost a lot of sheen, the temperature went down, the city of Alcalá stopped its activity and Cervantes square was converted during a few hours into a big observatory. After some months preparing this observation we only can say it has been a great succes.

Around more than 3.000 complutenses (people from Alcalá) came to Cervantes Square to see this phenomenom using our instruments, commentaries like "this is the most incredible I´ve never seen" could be listenen betwen the people of Alcalá. In addition we had the presence of dozens of scientists and astronomy fans who came with his own instruments from all the corners of the planet as for example, the components of the expedition of observation of the prestigious magazine of astronomy Sky and Telescope, with experts from Sydney, Texas, Arizona...
The coverage of the mass media also was spectacular with the presence of Antenna 3, Localia, TV realized a live connection for the whole Spain and an article for the news, Telemadrid and Direct Madrid, TV Corredor, Wave Zero, RNE, Diary of Alcala ... to all of them thank you very much!

The next eclipse in Spain will be on 12 august 2026, it will be a total eclipse. You are invited to come to observe this phenomenom with us, but if you can´t wait you can travel with us on march 2006 to Turkey, Egypt or Lybia where it will be a total eclipse.

We want to give thanks to our friends of Sky & Telescope and city hall of Alcalá de Henares for their help.
